Howdy folks, sorry for the loooong delay between messages. We have been holed up in our practice space writing and demo-ing some new tracks. We hope to line-up a few shows in the near future and unleash some new songs. We'll post show info both here and on myspace so keep an eye out for those. More news when theres news...

Icebird 08

Hello, hello. How are all of you out there? We are well and have just returned from our home territories well rested and primed to make something great. Our new years resolution is to record, and record alot. Over the next few months we'll be scaling back on playing out and focusing on recording the follow up to the EP. We have many new and different jams that we've be working on ranging in that wonderful happy place between pop and metal.

Once the recording is done we have our sights set on SXSW this year, some NY shows, Europe and then shows galore in Los Angeles. That is unless AC/DC decides to hit the road pickup the phone and ask some bruthas to open up for them.

For more news, show info, etc as it comes feel free to join our mailing list.

We've just added a few more dates to the tour so it will now be spanning from 9/29 to 10/12. People of Tacoma we're looking foward to starting this journey off in your town! See you at the Java Jive!

Octourbird, New EP, Holly Golightly and more!

Yes Y'all it is almost October again and there are alot of exciting things happening.

Firstly, tour time. The 'Bird will be hitting the road this September-October for a West Coast jaunt. The shows are still being booked so keep an eye on the Myspace page for more dates and info. We're even going to team up with pals Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs for a show or two.

And finally, did anyone else see Blonde Redhead last night at Sunset Junction? They killed it, I thought. Awesome show.

More news coming soon...

August 28th show at the Scene!

Howdy y'all! We're all set to play our next show on August 28th at the Scene along with Cinder Cone and others. Sorry for lack of news lately but the 'Bird has been busy, including the new website, new songs, some new ghetto-styled one track recordings, and new guitars being built.

Spaceland show just added, June 21st!

Next Thursday we'ez psyched to be playing at Spaceland with our spacemates and friends, Hello Menno. Come out and join us to for this celebratory birthday party show - Yeah!

July 9th show!

On July 9th we're excited to be playing at the Silverlake Lounge as part of the Light FM residency. Also on the bill for that night will be Peter Walker and The Ghost Lullaby. Set times and all of that fun stuff TBA.

Also, the Warriors party is on hold until further notice but will jump off for sure during this BBQ and house party season.

Icebirds across the world

So we just found some pretty sweet footage of our Brazilian counterparts, also named Icebird.

You can tell this isn't us because we don't own shorts, and the overall lack of hellacious riffs. If you're able to listen to the end the dude does a solo on his back.

Keepin' it Reel

Our new old reel to reel tape machine just showed up in the mail. Another welcome addition to the Icehaus Laboratories and just in time for cranking out some covers we've been working on.

Road Warriors

In addition to Spaceland, and the Warriors party we're stoked to be headed down to San Diego to play a show on Saturday, May 12th. Still working on that plan to rock out in Arizona. If anyone out there in Phoenix knows Greg Sage of the Wipers can you have him call us, even if it's telepathically...more news when there's news...

Come out and Play-ayyy!

May 26th is the new tentative date for the Warriors party. If you want to come to the party grab a 40, pick a gang and come along. You must arrive in gang attire from any of the gangs in the movie or you can't get in. We're getting some special surprises ready for this one so watch out.

Also, people of Arizona - keep an eye out for the 'Bird coming through in mid-May. We hear you guys still mosh which will be cool.

Troubadour Photos!

Just got these back today. Thanks to Craig Hammill for the shots and you all can see 'em here.

What's next

New website is almost here, and we're jamming out a few more new songs. Sometime in April we'll be playing a secret show of sorts at a little themed house party in Silverlake. If you wear your leather vest you might just be able to get in. Can you DIG IT!!!!

Thanks!

Much thanks to the French Kicks and everyone who came out last night and especially that dude who was working the smoke machine up front. Appreciate the help bro! It was a great show and we had alot of fun.

Icebird at the Troubadour!

February 28th we'll be playing our next show at the Troubadour opening up for our good friends the French Kicks! We'll be unveiling many of the songs from the upcoming EP. We're going on at 8:30. Also, the new site is coming along awesome and should be up in the next couple of weeks. So far, it looks crazy.

Unfinished Business

We just added a rough mix of one of the tracks we recorded in October. It's called 'Unfinished Business' and you can hear it here on Myspace.

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who came out to our CMJ show in NYC this past Thursday, we had a blast. Right now we're back in LA working on the mixes for the EP, and we're excited about what we have so far. We're also going to set up some shows here in town soon so keep an eye out for those. More news to come...

New site, new EP coming soon!

Once the madness of CMJ is finished, we'll be headed back to LA to begin mixing the cd. We also have plans to tear down and revamp this site with new pics, blogs, and odds and ends. Oh yeah, and the Frogs Rule!

Scratching Metal Bottom

We just finished recording the tracks for the EP at New Monkey Studio and we're stoked about how they came out. Much thanks to Dave and Josiah for their time and engineering mastery.

We have a new song called 'Scratching Metal Bottom' which has apparently unleashed some dark forces. This cursed 6-minute beast of a song has broken 2 computers so far. At this rate we'll be able to knock Microsoft outta business in no time and then collapse the world economy. We'll be unveiling this song and many other new songs live for the first time at CMJ next week.

November Deuce CMJ show info

Mark it on your calendars yall! November 2nd we're headed back to NY to play the Solid PR Showcase at CMJ. We'll be playing the Tap Room stage at the Knitting Factory. Our set starts around 9PM-ish. For more lineup info checkout our shows page. You can buy advance tickets here.

'Going at it' now up on Myspace

We've just posted another song called 'Going at it' from some demo sessions earlier this year on Myspace. You can check it out here.

CMJ show and Recording!

So we're stoked to be playing CMJ Music Marathon this year. We should have more date and time info for our show soon. Once we do it'll be posted here first. In the past few weeks we've spent many hours jamming out the new songs for the October recording sessions they are coming along well, we hope to unveil a couple soon but we'll see. More news to come soon...

The Cult Of Icebird

LA Citybeat did an article last week on the downtown scene and alot of the venues we've been playing at lately. It includes The Smell, Zamakibo and Little Pedro's. We received honorable mention in the article as a "cultish rock act." We're not quite sure what that means exactly but we imagine it's better then being something that sucks, like prog-rock. You can see the article here.

Check One Two & Killradio

Much thanks to Mr. Sovel of Indie 1031, Annie of Giant Drag and Humberto of KillRadio for playing 'Going at it' and some tracks tracks off of 'MAGNITUDE' recently. The new site will be up once the recording is squared away. It's top secret, so I can't really tell you about it...

We'll be playing along with E>K>U>K, Shiloe and the Shimmies and going on sometime between 11 and midnight. For all of you Werewolf lovers out there it's supposed to be a full moon.
In other news been making progress with the new songs and are getting set to begin recording in mid-October. We also started a gang war in Koreatown. More news to come...

What's Next

Thanks to everyone who came out to the show last night! We had a great time playing with The Family Leaves and the Movies. We'll be taking some time off from shows to finalize writing and then head in to record the follow up to MAGNITUDE. We have lots of ideas right now which need to be banged out. More to come soon...

tight, sweaty chops

Deadly Duo

While Barry is off in Europe on a trail of debauchery for the next couple of weeks we will be here sharpening our musical knives. Barry left with specific instructions to 'focus on Amsterdam.' In the meantime, our first cover will be Moby Dick completed with 15 minute bass and drum solos. After that maybe we'll get into some covers of other formidable two-pieces like Local H and the White Stripes. That is the news for now.

Anti-news

This is probabaly not news to anyone, but our band name is Icebird and not Iceberg.

Yes, Master

So we got our master back, or almost... and I'm nearly done with the album design. BTW, we are playing the Anarchy on 5/24. -B

The Invisible Difference Maker

Our album is in the extraordinarily capable hands of John and JJ Golden of John Golden Mastering. We're really excited to have them mixing it as they have worked on loads of stuff from Sub-Pop, SST, Kill Rock Stars and K Records. In a couple of short weeks, it goes to press.

New mp3's

We've added the unmastered mp3's for Voids and Ohio and clips of the Clap, ABABA, and Birthday Party from our upcoming album on our music page.

Buttons and Bumper Stickers

So, we don't have an official means of distributing the new Icebird buttons and stickers, but if you send an email with your address to info@icebirdband.com I'll send you one. Otherwise, we'll have them at our shows, of which, by the way, we're scheduling more as we speak.

The Formerly Self Titled Icebird Album

Recording at Red Rockets Glare with Raymond is going great. We've been at it for five days and we have another three days to go. If any guitar string manufacturers are reading this, it's time to produce unbreakable strings. I know you have the secret formula.

...We're getting near to the end. Mixing is nearly complete, and we're really excited about the record. We're ready to start booking shows again, so if you'd like to know when we're playing, get on our mailing list.

... One more day of mixing. The mixes then go to John Golden for mastering. Then pressing. Mike came up with the perfect title for the album. I'm not at liberty to disclose the title, but I will say that if we were, for instance, Def Leppard, it would be appropriate.

Burns

I love Burns' guitars. Mike and I just bought two Marquees for recording (and so we could finally have reliable, tunable instruments for shows). Actually, he bought his first and I copied him. Oh, and we have just "gone metal."
-Barry

Icebird will be taking off from playing live shows between now and the end of January. We're planning on a draconian practice schedule in December to get ready for the recording of our debut full-length album in early January. Cheers and Happy Holidays!
